Clear aligners or traditional metal braces? It’s a question we get a lot. Our office offers Invisalign treatment, and we encourage you to learn more about the advantages of clear aligners for teeth straightening. One clear benefit is the discreetness of the treatment. Invisalign can be a great choice for adults who don’t want metal braces to affect how they look.
Invisalign Explained
Invisalign has been an industry leader in clear aligners for close to two decades. They use technology to constantly innovate their products and partner closely with local dentist firms, like Forestville Family Dental, to make sure their aligners come with professional dental oversight.
Like braces, clear aligners help straighten crooked, spaced out, and misaligned teeth over time. Unlike braces, aligners are removable. You can take them out before you eat, brush your teeth, or floss. Afterwards, you can put the aligners right back in and continue the straightening process. It’s convenient and comfortable. Aligners are easy to put on and take off of your teeth.
What’s more, Invisalign is created using a SmartTrack material that incorporates dentists. Dental professionals can make custom fits for patients’ teeth, which improves efficiency and predictability: custom-fit aligners are shown to straighten teeth in less time than traditional braces.
Benefits of Invisalign
Through its patented technology, Invisalign gives patients all the benefits of traditional braces while also avoiding their drawbacks, namely pain, discomfort, and possible embarrassment. The clear aligners offer you a more discrete way to straighten your teeth while still living your life.
The removability of Invisalign aligners also reduces the risk of plaque buildup and chances of gum disease. The custom fit of the aligners keeps gums healthier by protecting them from harmful bacteria, including that which can cause periodontal disease.
Should I get Invisalign?
We require a consultation appointment with any patient interested in getting Invisalign. This is so we can create a 3D model of your teeth. We take this model and create several aligners for you to use throughout your treatment. Once you have the aligners, you will switch them out every two to four weeks until the straightening process is complete.
Clear aligners are addressing an ever-expanding list of oral needs. However, for some patients, traditional orthodontic braces may still be the best choice to treat certain issues that Invisalign can’t fix. During our consultation, we will discuss with you which may be the best choice.
